Coaching Less

I'm tempted to write a long intro for an inquiry on my mind. Instead, I'm just going to get to the point. Why are some coaches trying so hard to avoid talking to clients/members/participants? I am strictly speaking of coaches who work for someone other than themselves.

In my recent experience, a growing trend amongst coaches hired explicitly to coach is complaining of "overwork" and "burnout." They are demanding less work, meaning less of doing what they are hired to do; coach. Sadly, their apathy swiftly spreads and infects the masses. I wonder how that apathy might impact their coaching and their clients.

To those coaches, what is your proof of overwork?
Have you considered working smarter, not harder?

What is your evidence of burnout?
Have you considered unaddressed boundary and/or validation issues?

Walk the talk—consider getting a coach or mentor to discover what's behind your demand to coach less.
